Bruce Lehrmann claimed he suffered trauma from an abusive girlfriend the year he allegedly sexually assaulted former Liberal Party staffer Brittany Higgins.
Medical records released by the Federal Court detailed the abuse after media interviews with Ms Higgins aired.
The document showed the hospital assessed Mr Lehrmann as having an acutely elevated risk of suicide given current public shaming and loss of job.
