NSW train network avoids disruptions with fare-free train travel

Commuters are getting fare-free train travel this week with major industrial action being avoided on the New South Wales rail network.

The fare-free travel is expected to cost taxpayers eight million dollars in lost ticket revenue.

During negotiations with the Rail, Tram, and Bus Union, a compromise to provide fare-free travel was reached to avoid escalating industrial action.
