‘Serious concerns’: Queensland Police launch search with SES and rescue chopper to find missing man 28, in South Burnett

Police have launched a major search operation in regional Queensland to find missing 28-year-old Luke Fergusson.

Mr Fergusson went missing about 12pm on Friday from a property on Proston Abbeywood Road at Stalworth in the South Burnett region, roughly 300 kilometres north-west of Brisbane.

He has not been seen or heard from since.

Police have described the 28-year-old as approximately 175cm tall, Caucasian, and of proportionate build with brown hair and brown eyes.

Queensland Police released a statement on Saturday afternoon, confirming a search operation was underway in nearby towns and bushland to find Mr Fergusson.

“Police and State Emergency Service volunteers are today searching bushland and creek areas in the nearby townships of Proston, Stalworth, Abbeywood and surrounds,” police said.

“The rescue helicopter is also assisting with search efforts.”

While his whereabouts is unknown, police believe Mr Fergusson could be on foot “walking north, possibly through bush”.

“Family and police hold serious concerns for Luke’s welfare due to the cold weather overnight,” police continued.

“Luke also has a medical condition and may appear disorientated.”

On Friday night, police issued another public appeal to help find the 28-year-old.

Residents in the South Burnett region are urged by police to check their properties and review CCTV or dash cam footage from Friday night.
