The Australian’s Lead Writer Graham Lloyd says while the Prime Minister’s recent “diplomatic journey” has been “very good”, it’s important to maintain some perspective.
“I think there was always a view that once the Chinese President had really reaffirmed his position back home, he would sort of look outwards and re-establish some links, particularly with the United States and Australia,” Mr Lloyd told Sky News Australia.
“The fruits of that engagement have yet to be seen but I think it’s right to say that the business community in particular would be wise to remember the lessons of diversification.
“Because in a big sense, the issues haven’t changed, China is still building up its military, it’s still looking at a more outward-looking focus in its region.”
